What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign System in Fort Worth combines state of the art 3-D graphics technology with time-tested orthodontic science. It uses a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners, which are virtually undetectable to move your teeth. This means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth. These aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the optimal position prescribed by Dr. Barron.

Why Do We Reccomend Invisalign?

Invisalign can correct a range of dental challenges, including gaps in teeth, crooked teeth, and other malocclusions. Because the aligners are removable, you can eat and drink everything you normally would. Cleaning your teeth is as easy as it has always been. Finally, the clear aligners are smooth and comfortable.

How Does It Work?

Dr. Barron uses Invisalign to straighten your teeth without wires and brackets. Instead, Invisalign uses advanced computer technology to create a sequence of finely calibrated customized aligners, as few as 12 or as many as 48. These clear plastic aligners are molded to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan.

Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and taken out only when you eat, brush, and floss. You’ll return to Ahava Orthodontics usually every 8-10 weeks for treatment. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth gradually move until they’ve reached their ideal position – then you’ll be smiling like you never have before!

Invisalign FAQ

What if I have had braces or other treatment already?

Invisalign is a great option to move teeth that have shifted from previous braces treatment. Many people opt for this discrete treatment over getting braces a second time. Other dental treatments such as veneers, crowns, or bridgework have to be looked at on a case by case basis. Dr. Barnes will evaluate whether or not Invisalign will be a good option for you based on your prior treatment history.

How do I take care of my aligners?

It is most important to keep your teeth and aligners clean! Brushing your teeth and aligners after you eat or drink will prevent staining, tooth decay, bad breath, and overall oral health. We also recommend always keeping your aligners in their case if they are not in your mouth. This prevents your aligners from getting lost, thrown out, or damaged.

Will I still need to wear a retainer after my Invisalign treatment is done?

Most orthodontists recommend that you use a retainer after any orthodontic treatment. Just like your Invisalign treatment plan, Dr. Barnes will give you a retainer treatment plan tailored for you as well. Together you will decide what kind of retainer is best for you, and when/how long you should be wearing it.

What are the costs/payment options for Invisalign?

In most cases, the cost of Invisalign is comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Your total cost will be determined by how complex your orthodontic treatment is. Ask your doctor about using insurance, FSA/HSA, or if they provide payment plans options.
