Ahava Orthodontics mission has always been to provide orthodontic care to patients of all ages, going one step above your typical orthodontics office. My wife Shawn and I have a strong belief in spreading good through deeds. When we encounter opportunities to be part of something positive that’s impacting communities across our borders, we gear up with our whole family and are off to do The Lord’s work.
We are excited to share some of the places and extraordinary people that we’ve met through our journeys.
Uganda Mission
This year, we were fortunate to join the folks at Restoration Gateway in Uganda, Africa. Nestled between the river Nile and the expansive East African plain, Restoration Gateway is a faith based organization that is restoring peace and healing wounds among the vulnerable children and war-torn people of Northern Uganda. It’s 700 acres of land overlooking the Nile is being developed into a holistic, reproducible community through Orphan Care, Health Care, Empowerment, and Ministry to the Church.
It was an amazing experience, to meet, share and befriend these resilient people. To see what they are building and participate in the healing of these orphaned children providing what we can: smiles. Through pediatric and general dentistry, we could be a small part of something much, much bigger than ourselves. In coordination with their talented staff we provided services at their medical clinic within the orphan village. The hippos, alligators, giraffes, other wildlife and sheer beauty of the country were also an experience unto itself.
Children played, were educated and lived in a self-sustaining community. It was such an experience! We invite you to see what they are up to at http://restorationgateway.org/ and feel free to donate to their cause or go visit.
